The Chicken Chaser Chronicles are Over

January 30, 2009

Earlier tonight, I made a post on my blog The Chicken Chaser Chronicles about my decision to end its run. Below is that post:

When I started The Chicken Chaser Chronicles, my intent was to see this blog through to the end. The interest and energy I had for the project in the beginning has since dispersed. There is a reason why this blog has received so few page views. My apathy toward the project was apparent with every post.

I knew my interest in The Chicken Chaser Chronicles had waned when my notes became succinct and dull. There was so much going on in Fable II that I would play for five minutes then write for thirty minutes. Usually, the ratio of playing to writing would be satisfactory, but the notes I was taking were boring by content. As a gamer, I find watching someone else play a game for hours to rarely be exciting. I can only imagine reading about another person’s gaming session would be even less entertaining.

My approach to The Chicken Chaser Chronicles was a disaster. I no longer write entries because it was boring, and I have since stopped playing Fable II because I felt obliged to report on my character’s every action. The whole project was boring to me, so any readers this blog might have had were no doubt turned off by the basis of the blog. I made a mistake earlier in The Chicken Chaser Chronicles and failed to correct the problem before it was too late. I have no interest in resuscitating my Fable II blog, so this is the end.

I have been warned about shedding light on my mistakes that would otherwise go unnoticed. I could have written a post claiming scheduling conflicts or new responsibilities that had taken me away from the blog, but I wanted to be honest. I realize this post might hurt readership for my future projects; after all, if Jon cannot finish what he started and just end projects on a whim, how can anything he does be trusted? First of all, lighten up. Second, The Chicken Chaser Chronicles was always meant to be ephemeral, which I admit was the problem.

I had hoped that while playing Fable II, I would be inspired to write about issues brought about by the game; perhaps some comparisons between the world of Albion and our own. Unfortunately, the blog became inundated with minutia. I wanted to write about the implications of Fable II, yet posted entry after entry about mechanics and summary of game play. The blog was designed to fail, and thus I have decided to no longer write The Chicken Chaser. It would be irresponsible and self-destructive to continue pursuing a project that cannot hold my interest or further my aspirations.

I admitted to my mistake, and now it is time to move on.

Chicken Chaser Chronicles: Chronicle Three is Up

November 13, 2008

Well, let’s see how this will work out. With the new blog set up, I will be removing the pages here after they have been moved. I’m truly hoping this won’t all blow up in my face. Here goes nothing.

Breaking News!

November 11, 2008

My next post wasn’t scheduled until late tomorrow night, but I have an announcement to make. Due to the number of pages being created for this blog on a weekly basis, I have decided to truly separate each series into its own blog. In the coming days, you will be able to find your favorite blog series at the following places:

The Chicken Chaser Chronicles: A Fable II Blog

The Shanoa Saga: A Castlevania Order of Ecclesia Blog

and the venerable

Cor Blimey! It’s A Dragon Quest IV Blog

I want to assure everyone that the decision to break up this blog in separate blogs was done with haste and for monetary reasons.

With its star attractions moving on, what will become of Jon K Langdon Presents? Well, who knows? You will have to stay tuned to find out.

More to come,

Jon K Langdon
